Africa Unite: Music Across The Continent Parlure Spiegeltent and Garden
One of the wonderful things about the arts, be it book, film, painting
or music, is that these disciplines have the potential to transport
the viewer, through a spectrum of emotion, to whole new place, a
mental journey that can be as fulfilling as any physical adventure.
The music performed at 'Africa Unite' is some of the purest and most
transcendental you'll hear within the city limits. Through the
stripped down drums and chanting of Yiri Baa, to the euphoric,
big-band Afro Regga of the Nhasitafara Crew, the audience in the
Spiegeltent are hoisted off the Old Steine and ceremoniously dumped on
an African Plain, upon which the Spiegeltent has been especially
erected for tonight's revelry. Joyous, uplifting and given the current
musical climate, quite the novelty. Much, much dancing ensued.
